William “Billy” Bishop

William “Billy” Bishop has always had a passion for being an electrician. Billy learned the electrical trade from his dad, also a licensed electrician. Throughout his electrical career, he has worked on everything from single family homes and commercial buildings to industrial complexes including phosphate mines and power plants. Billy opened Top Flight Electric in 2017 with the mission to provide customers with “First Class” electrical services. Everyone employed by the company is someone you will feel comfortable with welcoming into your home.

Billy is a licensed electrical and builder contractor (Florida CBC 1259217) whose life experiences have literally taken him around the world as a corporate jet pilot. He has over 8,500 flight hours, and is licensed as an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP), with ratings to fly four different Jet aircraft and two Turbo-Props. Billy spent three years in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and had a Secret Clearance with the Department of Defense (DoD). He was also a Professor of Aviation for the Aerospace Department of Polk State College for seven years.

Billy’s educational background includes an Associates in Electronic Engineering from Bauder College in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Billy has called Polk County home for over 30 years. He lives with his family, near his Mom, and his 2 daughter’s families, including 5 grandchildren.

During this time from hands on experience, there is nothing electrical to small or large I have not seen or fixed. I am married to my beautiful wife and have 2 wonderful children. My passion is providing for my family.

I’ve started my journey in 1973 to learn everything about electrical. I traveled outside of my school district by train for an hour and a half to pursue my electrical education, so I could be accepted into William E. Grady in New York. Being accepted into one of the best electrical trade schools, I was eager to learn. I have done everything from commercial, industrial, and residential, even once was a lineman. I realize I have a gift to help and educate individuals about electrical safety. With the passion and drive I have for the field; I couldn’t have chosen a better company than Top Flight Electric. My motivation is, I wake up with a purpose, asking myself who can I help today?!
